The much-anticipated skating trail at Hollinger Park is open to the public.

The City of Timmins said the path, which is about 430 metres, is opening to the public this evening, however the Timmins Community Park Association's warming trailer and washrooms will not be available. The facilities will be open for the TCPA's Winter Wonderland event being held at the park tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 18) from noon to 4 p.m.

“City staff have demarked some peripheral areas of the skating path that should be avoided due to a few rough areas,” said director of community and development services Mark Jensen in a news release. “These areas are marked off with orange spray paint and orange construction cones for the safety of all users.”

According to the city, the regular operating hours for the warming trailer and washrooms start Jan. 23. The hours are Thursday and Friday from 4 - 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
