A fun night out raised about $2,100 for the Timmins Seizure and Brain Injury Centre.

The Hoe-Down for Epilepsy at the Victory Tavern was Jessica Palubiskie's idea.

While she's been an epileptic her whole life, she only shared her condition publicly when she decided to organize the fundraiser.

The night featured the Mike Trudell Band, raffles, prizes for best outfits, and games. Ed Geisler even shaved his beard for the occasion.  For the honour of getting the first cut of the beard, which he'd been growing for about 15 months, people made a donation to the cause.

"The support we got from everybody was amazing," Palubiskie said, adding about 130 people stopped by for it.

Timmins Seizure and Brain Injury Centre executive director Rhonda Latendresse said the money raised will help support programs such as the New Beginnings Day Program and a new children's program that is starting at the end of February.
