With Highway 11 closed from Cochrane to Kenogami, school buses are being impacted this afternoon.

Buses from Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and Matheson are waiting at the schools, according to a North East Tri-Board Student Transportation notice.

"Students who must travel on the highway to get home will remain at the school until the highway has reopened. Families are encouraged to contact the school to pick up their students if it is safe for them to travel to the school," reads the notice.

There are also delays for in-town students. The notice says families of young students are being contacted by school staff to make sure young students can be met at home.

A winter travel advisory is in effect for the entire region, from Cochrane to Englehart.

This afternoon, Highway 11 was closed from Cochrane to Kenogami due to poor weather conditions and multiple crashes.

This morning, school buses were cancelled in Hearst, Kapuskasing and Smooth Rock Falls.
