There are plenty of activities to keep busy on Canada Day.

From art in the park, kids' activities and fireworks, a full day of fun is planned on July 1.

The official celebration is at Hollinger Park, where the Timmins Community Park Association and City of Timmins have teamed up to put on activities.

From noon to 4 p.m. there will be an inflatable maze and bumper ball, a barbecue, music and more.

At 10 p.m. there are fireworks at Porcupine Lake.

Over at Roy Nicholson Park at the corner of Pine and Eighth, the Porcupine Art Club is celebrating the Queen's Jubilee with a free Royal Tea and Paint Party.

It runs from noon to 4 p.m. People can stop by to enjoy art demonstrations and see some of the club members' recent work.

People can also help paint the community mosaic mural. It features 70 canvases that have been prepared with outlines for people to colour. Once painted, the canvases will be put together to form a mural, which will be displayed at the art club's exhibit at the Timmins Museum: NEC later this year.

At the art club event, there will also be entertainment provided by local musicians and members of TakeTwo Theatre. Coffee, tea and cookies will be served.
