NEWS RELEASE
TIMMINS PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Timmins Public Library is happy to announce a partnership with Ontario Parks to support a library park pass lending program until Nov. 30, 2019. Ontario Parks has provided two-vehicle day passes at no charge to enable program participants to access any Ontario Park. Additionally, Ontario Parks Guides and Ontario Parks Discovery Guides for children will be provided to all program participants.

The passes are available to those who borrow the Birdwatching and Hiking Outdoor Reading Kits at the library. The Ontario Parks passes can be used at any Ontario Provincial Park until November 30, 2019. Kettle Lakes, approximately 45 km east of Timmins is open until Oct. 15, 2019. Parks open for day use year-round are Algonquin, Frontenac, Kilarney, and MacGregor Point.

The Outdoor Reading Kits were launched in the spring of 2018. The kits were created to encourage residents to explore local parks and walking trails; to explore Timmins’ rich and diverse flora and fauna; to get exercise; to enjoy the great outdoors; to relax and most importantly to have fun! Each kit contains a journal for participants to document their outdoor discoveries and share them with the next borrower. Our kits are filled with the tools to enhance your next hiking, birdwatching, geocaching, or stargazing adventure.

You must have a Timmins Public Library card in good standing to borrow these kits. The Adult Outdoor Reading Kits may be borrowed by Library cardholders aged 18 or older. All kits are available at the Main Branch in Timmins. At this time, the kits are available as first come first serve with a limit of one per cardholder. The lending period is one week with no renewals. Only the Adult Hiking and Birdwatching kits include an Ontario Parks Pass.
