Heat warning issued for Timmins and area

Humidity levels are not expected to be particularly high, though humidex values to the mid-30s will still be possible

Heat Warning in effect for:
    •    Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls
    •    Kirkland Lake - Englehart
    •    New Liskeard - Temagami

Temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius are expected.

Hot conditions for the weekend.

A hot and moderately humid air mass is forecast to move into the area Saturday and remain in place for Sunday. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 29 or 30 degrees while overnight lows will only fall to the upper teens providing little relief from the heat. Humidity levels are not expected to be particularly high, though humidex values to the mid-30s will still be possible.

The passage of a cold front Sunday night will bring cooler temperatures and lower humidity for Monday and Monday night. The cool down is expected to be brief however, as high heat and humidity are forecast to return for the middle part of next week.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
