Heat warning issued for Timmins and area

Environment Canada has updated a severe weather bulletin for Northern Ontario at 11:18 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 13.

A heat warning is continued for:
TIMMINS - COCHRANE - IROQUOIS FALLS
GREATER SUDBURY AND VICINITY
CHAPLEAU - GOGAMA
KIRKLAND LAKE - NEW LISKEARD - TEMAGAMI
ELLIOT LAKE - RANGER LAKE
NORTH BAY - WEST NIPISSING.

Hot and humid conditions are expected today through Tuesday.

A hot and humid air mass remains in place across the area. Daytime maximum temperatures will be near 30 degrees with humidex values above 36.

Cooler temperatures and lower humidity are expected by Wednesday with the passage of a cold front Tuesday night. 

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. 

Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
