People trying to book a COVID-19 vaccine locally will have to wait until tomorrow.

This morning, people trying to book a vaccine in the Porcupine Health Unit region had issues getting onto the site. Once in the booking system, a maintenance error message would appear.

"We have received lots of interest in booking second doses of vaccines and this is great news," said the health unit in a Facebook statement.

"Unfortunately, our booking system is having some difficulty keeping up so we are required to shut down the site for it to receive some upgrades."

The health unit expects the booking system to be back online tomorrow at 9 a.m.

When it is back up and running, the health unit notice says booking will be limited to Moderna second dose clinics at the Whitney Arena in Porcupine on June 16, 17 and 18 as well as Pfizer clinics in communities that still have appointments available.

With the system down, people are also unable to call to book an appointment.

When everything is back up and running, you can book an appointment for a clinic online here or call 705-360-4819.

There is a pop-up vaccination clinic today in the parking lot of the Timmins Metro from 3 - 8 p.m. A list of upcoming clinics in the region is available here.
