Two gymnastics clubs vying to use the Confederation arena will have to wait a couple weeks to learn who gets access to the space.

The city is using a direct request for proposal (RFP) process to award the lease for the space at the recreation complex, which is equipped with gymnastics equipment.

Late last year, reps from Stella Nova Gymnastics, which is looking to start up again, asked council to renew the club's lease agreement at the facility, but the decision was deferred. Last month, Rock and Gold Gymnastics talked to council about using the space.

At this week's meeting, some councillors were ready to award the lease to Rock and Gold, however, it was ultimately decided to follow the direct RFP process.

CAO Dave Landers said the process would not be open to other clubs. The city will only receive bids from Stella Nova Gymnastics and Rock and Gold Gymnastics.

He said the bids will be brought to the next meeting, which is Feb. 19, for council to make a decision.
