Attractions Ontario is proud to introduce its new Board of Directors for 2018-2019. Mr. Guy Lamarche from Tourism Timmins has taken over as chair and a number of new members have joined the board.

These new members are Steve Weir, The Great Waterway/RTO 9, David MacLachlan, Tourism Northern Ontario/RTO13, Paul Pepe, Tourism Thunder Bay. The new board began its term on May 8, 2018 in accordance with the procedures established by the Board of Directors.

“Attractions are an important sector in driving tourism receipts not only for the North but all of Ontario. I am really pleased to join the Board and look forward to working with everyone at Attractions Ontario to grow this sector across the Province,” said David MacLachlan, executive director for Tourism Northern Ontario.

Attractions Ontario takes pride in ensuring that the makeup of its Board of Directors mirrors the makeup of the tourism regions established by the Province of Ontario in order to provide a voice to all regions, as well as every sector of the industry, from attraction, DMO and RTO.

Mr. Lamarche will be taking the reins as chair from Kathrine Christensen, 1000 Islands Tourism, who was chair for the last two years.

“I am honoured to be promoted to the position of chair and I accept the challenge of leading such a reputable pan-Ontario organization. I said honoured where I really meant privileged if you consider the list of industry colleagues who have chaired Attractions Ontario before me. I also look forward to the work ahead as we develop a new three-year strategic plan. The plan will guide our efforts as we continue to work hard for our many attraction members while increasing visitations and overall tourism receipts.”

Troy Young, chief executive officer of Attractions Ontario states, “Attractions Ontario is more committed than ever to maintaining a bright, vibrant, and diverse Board of Directors. Through a strong Board, we can continue to support our members effectively in our capacity as representatives of the attraction sector.”

Attractions Ontario would like to thank the following outgoing members of the Board of Directors for their support and involvement: Minto Schneider, Waterloo Region Tourism Marketing Partnership, David Adames, Niagara Parks, Valerie Kent, Gallery Q/Cavan Arts Inc.
