Toronto - Metro will soon re-open and continue to serve shoppers in South Porcupine, following damage sustained after the Thursday, June 19 fire at Porcupine Mall.

The store is expected to open its doors again in approximately two weeks time, once the store has been cleaned from the smoke damage and re-stocked with fresh products.

The Metro store located at 4858 Highway 101 in South Porcupine suffered smoke damage after a fire began in a vehicle parked in the Porcupine Mall parking lot on Thursday afternoon.

No one was injured in the blaze.

“We will be re-opening the store as soon as Public Health officials give us their approval,” said Pat Limlaw, Store Manager of Metro #270. “We’re looking forward to re-joining the community and serving our customers again.”

Metro is ensuring that all store employees are being looked after while the store is temporarily closed. An announcement will be made to staff as soon as an exact opening date has been confirmed.
