With the weather warming up, it’s time for the annual spring clean-up

Tuesday, council approved a $53,574 for Waste Management of Canada to do the residential curbside collection May 22 to June 1. Two collection crews will be working, a 40-yard bin will be set up at the German landfill, and tipping fees at the landfill sites will be waived on the collection days.

The items not collected during the clean-up are: concrete and asphalt, batteries, tires, electronics, propane tanks, white goods or items that contain Freon, recyclables, paints, liquids, fuels, chemicals, mattresses or box springs that aren’t securely wrapped.

A household hazardous waste collection for the some of the items not included in the spring clean-up will be held June 16.
