Four arrested after police seize a whack of drugs

Timmins Police announced this morning that four people have been arrested following the seizure of $161,000 in marijuana, methamphetamine and several other varieties of drugs.

Timmins Police announced this morning that four people have been arrested following the seizure of $161,000 in marijuana, methamphetamine and several other varieties of drugs.

On November 21, 2015, while conducting a drug investigation, officers from the Timmins Police Service stopped a vehicle travelling on Highway 101 E in the City of Timmins.

Upon searching the vehicle, police seized 22.9 lbs. of cannabis-marihuana, approximately 500 methamphetamine tablets, and a small amount of cannabis-resin (‘shatter’).

Police also seized approximately $4,455 in Canadian Currency and several electronic devices.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $107,650.

Later that day, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Timmins.

As a result, police seized approximately 400 grams of cannabis-resin (‘shatter’), 20 grams of psilocybin, approximately $3040 in Canadian currency, various packaging materials and other items used to manufacture drugs.

The estimated street value of the items seized is $43,240.

Officers executed another search warrant at a second residence in Timmins.

As a result of that warrant, police seized approximately 691 grams of Psilocybin, 242 methamphetamine tablets, 56.7 grams of cannabis-resin (hash), approximately $200 in Canadian currency; vapour marijuana cigarettes, and various packaging materials.

The estimated street value of the items seized is approximately $10,471.

The total estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $161,000.

In connection with the above seizures, four individuals are now facing various charges.

Trevor BRUNETTE, 23, of Timmins is charged with Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cannabis-marihuana), possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Kyle GRENIER, 23, of Timmins is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cannabis-marihuana), possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x2), Production of a controlled substance (cannabis-resin – ‘shatter’), possession for the purpose of trafficking (cannabis-resin – ‘shatter’), and possession of a Schedule III substance (psilocybin).

Chad GIRARD, 24, of Timmins is charged with production of a controlled substance (cannabis-resin – ‘shatter’), possession for the purpose of trafficking (cannabis-resin – ‘shatter’), and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Yvon, GRENIER, 56, of Timmins, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cannabis-marihuana), possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) x2, possession for the purpose of trafficking (cannabis-resin – hash), possession for the purpose of trafficking (psilocybin), and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 x2.

Trevor Brunette, Kyle Grenier, and Chad Girard were released on a recognizance of bail pending a future court date.

Yvon Grenier remains in custody.

This seizure the result of excellent investigative work by members of the Drug Enforcement Unit.

This is a significant seizure, and demonstrates the commitment of the Timmins Police Service to stem the flow of illegal drug trafficking and the abuse of drugs in our community.
