Five charged in Iroquois Falls drug bust

IROQUOIS FALLS - On March 29, 2019, members of the Iroquois Falls Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and the North East Region Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau executed Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Cannabis Act search warrants at a residence in Iroquois Falls, Ont.

As a result of the warrant five people were arrested and charged. The OPP seized amounts of cocaine, methamphetamine, cannabis (marijuana) and psilocybin. Also seized was a Smith and Wesson revolver. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $26,000. The accused are as follows:

Christa Bobrowski, 38 years old, of Timmins, Ont., is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC,
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC and,
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC.

William Deforge, 38 years old, of Smooth Rock Falls, Ont., is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC and,
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC.

Lindsay Fletcher, 33 years old, of Timmins, Ont., is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC and,
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC.

Monique Benthin, 36 years old, of Timmins, Ont. was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order, contrary to section 117.01 (1) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC and,
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC.

Warren Massicotte, 51 years old, of Kirkland Lake, Ont., was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, contrary to section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC and,
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC.

All accused were released on a recognizance of bail and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 9, 2019, in Timmins.
