A company already providing project management for part of the Golden Manor redevelopment has been awarded a new contract.

BTY Consultancy Group has been given the single-source contract for $510,940 to provide project management of the Golden Manor redevelopment's construction phase.

The city first hired the company in January 2021 to provide the project management services for the schematic and detailed design phases, and furniture, fixtures and equipment procurement. The initial fixed-fee contract is until 2024 and was chosen through a competitive bid process.

"At that point, we hadn’t awarded the project management component of the Golden Manor redevelopment project. We’ve had an opportunity to work directly with BTY and based on our experience, based on the reference checks that we’ve done, it’s the recommendation of the committee of management to move forward with awarding them with the project management services,” said Timmins CAO Dave Landers.

Work to redevelop the Golden Manor has been ongoing for years.

The new, 192-bed building will be built on the empty land in the northwest corner of the current location on Melrose Boulevard.

In May, council approved the schematic design and gave the go-ahead to move to the design development phase. The cost for the schematic design is $3.7 million more than the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care budget for the project.
