NORTH BAY – Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli will visit the Ring of Fire tomorrow to get a first-hand update on the once-in-a-lifetime mining development opportunity in Northern Ontario.

This will be Fedeli’s fourth trip to the Ring of Fire. “While the government likes to do a lot of talking about the Ring of Fire, I’m going to put my boots on the ground there once again to see what, if any, progress has been made since my last trip there,” said Fedeli. “I specifically will be looking for opportunities for Ontario Northland to play a direct role in helping develop the Ring of Fire.  The best way to ship ore is by rail.” Fedeli says a perfect example of Liberal doublespeak on the Ring of Fire is the court action launched by the Ministry of the Attorney General this week to appeal a mining commission ruling. “The government once again is meddling, and this will only add further delays to development,” said Fedeli. “It’s further evidence they simply have no plan for the Ring of Fire, and no plan to create jobs and prosperity in the North.” By contrast, the Ontario PCs have put out a Northern White Paper which lays out a real plan for the Ring of Fire, and just recently launched the Million Jobs plan to get Ontario back on track, added Fedeli. “Northerners have heard enough empty talk on Ring of Fire. We’ve seen enough delays,” said Fedeli. “It’s time to change the team that leads this province, and light up the Ring of Fire.”
