TIMMINS AND DISTRICT HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

**************************
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88 generously donated $5,000 from its 2013 Poppy Campaign proceeds towards patient care at Timmins and District Hospital.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of the RCL Branch 88 were Bill Pigeon, Vice-President and Poppy Campaign Chairperson and Brian McKane, Assistant Poppy Campaign Chairperson.

Accepting the donation was Ms. Janna Cook, Executive Director of the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation.

The RCL Branch 88 continues to be an ongoing supporter of the TADHF since 1997.

It is listed as a Benefactor in the TADHF’s Donor Recognition system.

The Benefactor category honours individuals/organizations who have cumulatively donated between $50,000 and $99,999.

This year’s donation included a significant increase over last year’s gift.

Mr. Pigeon stated “We are proud to support the TADH Foundation. It is an organization that is very much needed in our community. It assists our hospital in the purchase of new equipment which in turn helps provide us with services we all benefit from and appreciate.”

“The RCL Branch 88’s consistent donations have contributed tremendously. We are very grateful for their commitment to the community and we thank them for their support,” stated Ms. Cook.

“Because of their dedication to enhance the lives of others, the improvements we have been able to make in obtaining state-of-the-art medical equipment in North-eastern Ontario would not have been possible,” continued Ms. Cook. “We appreciate that we can count on the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88’s generosity and the increase in their support allows us to do that much more in terms of patient care at the Timmins and District Hospital.”

Mr. McKane also pointed out the importance of the Poppy Campaign.

“As we can see today, donations go far in helping our community. What we give for the sake of others will ultimately come back to benefit us. Also, wearing a poppy shows we support those who have given of themselves to serve our country and to those who continue to serve today. ”
