Schreiber man charged with driving while impaired by drugs

KIRKLAND LAKE - On June 6, 2019, at 8:42 a.m., members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically. Police located and stopped the vehicle on Highway 66 in Lebel Township, Ont. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of drugs. 

As a result, Douglas McLeod, 30 years of age, of Schreiber, Ontario, was charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired - Drugs, contrary to section 320.14 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.   

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 18, 2019, in Kirkland Lake.  

The OPP remains committed to enforcing impaired driving laws and educating road users about the dangers posed by motorists who drive while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Remember any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one's ability to drive.
