SOUTH PORCUPINE – An officer with the Highway Safety Division of the South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 57-year-old Timmins man as a result of a traffic stop on Highway 144, McKeown Township on January 28, 2015.

While conducting traffic patrol on Highway 144, an OPP officer observed a vehicle being driven at speeds of 50 kilometers over the posted limit.

As a result of the traffic stop and police investigation, the driver, Michel GAGNON, was charged with race a motor vehicle as per section 172. (1) of the Highway Traffic Act. 

In addition his driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on February 26, 2015.
