Driver charged in crash involving motorcycle

Police urge people to be aware of motorcycles during the summer months

The Timmins Police Service – Traffic Section has completed its investigation into a mid-afternoon collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 101 in the hamlet of Porcupine.

Timmins Police, Timmins Fire, and EMS attended the scene to render assistance.

A 54-year-old Timmins man, who was operating a motorcycle sustained injury requiring medical attention.

The motorcycle he was operating had sustained significant damage and had to be removed by means of a tow truck.

The investigation into the root cause of the collision had indicated that another motorist had caused the collision by means of an unsafe maneuver.

These findings have led to a charge of “Change Lane – Not in Safety” contrary to the Highway Traffic Act to be laid against a Donnie Reid, 29, of Timmins.

The Timmins Police Service is urging motorists to be aware that motorcycles form part of the motoring landscape in the summer months and proper and responsible attention to these vehicles and their operators is called for at all times.
