Golden Avenue Public School is once again set to host the District School Board Ontario North East Cross Country Challenge.

Golden Avenue Public School is once again set to host the District School Board Ontario North East Cross Country Challenge. The event is set to take place on the grounds and running trails of the Northern College Porcupine Campus on Friday, October 18th. An invitation was sent out to all grade 3 to 8 students in our North and Central regions. This year’s event anticipates about 500 runners. “There are 12 races in total, beginning with the grade 3 girls at 10:30am, and ending with the grade 8 boys race at 2:00pm,” says organizer John Bohdanec. “The younger students will run 1.25 kms, grades 5 and 6 will run 2.3 kms and the grade 7 and 8 students will run 3 kms.”

“We are are hoping for some good running weather, ” adds Bohdanec. “Schools have been instructed to ensure their runners are dressed appropriately.” With their registration fee, students receive a participation ribbon and lunch.
