COVID-19 outbreak declared at Earlton workplace

There's a potential exposure advisory for people who visited Koch Farms from Sunday, April 18 to Monday, April 26

A workplace outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at an Earlton business.

The outbreak is at Koch Farms, 125364 Gravel Rd. The Timiskaming Health Unit has also issued a potential exposure advisory for the site. 

People who visited Koch Farms between Sunday, April 18 and Monday, April 26 should self-monitor for symptoms. If symptoms develop, call the local assessment centre for testing. To determine if a test is required, call the Timiskaming Health unit at 1-866-747-4305 ext. 7.

Typical COVID-19 symptoms are:

  • fever
  • new or worsening cough
  • shortness of breath 
  • loss of sense of smell or taste 
  • sore throat or hoarse voice 
  • difficulty swallowing 
  • runny nose or nasal congestion 
  • nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain 

Atypical symptoms are:

  • unexplained fatigue or malaise 
  • muscle aches
  • delirium
  • unexplained or increased number of falls 
  • acute functional decline 
  • exacerbation of current chronic conditions 
  • chills 
  • headaches 
  • croup 
  • conjuctivitis

To date in the Timiskaming Health Unit region there have been 170 confirmed cases of the virus. Of those, 137 are resolved and two people have died. There are 31 known active cases.
