Dr. Dan Cass, Deputy Chief Coroner for Investigations, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Richard Roy.

Mr. Roy, age 28 years, died on January 7, 2011, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a mining site in Timmins.

An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Roy's death.

The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last three days and to hear from approximately five witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Superior Court of Justice, 48 Spruce Street North, Timmins.

Dr. David Eden will preside as inquest coroner and Dale Cox will be counsel to the coroner.
