There’s a back to school theme at the Urban Park Market downtown Timmins, which will be set up Aug. 22 to 24 on Third Avenue between Spruce and Cedar. Wednesdays the Urban Park offers kids’ activities, Thursday is the farmers’ market, and Friday is Tunes at Noon. It runs from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, but keep in mind that the farmers can’t start selling on market day until 11 a.m. when the bell rings.

The summer concert series continues this week at the Schumacher Lions Club. This week’s performers are Caro Duguay at 6 p.m., Stephen Howard at 7:15 p.m., and Skinny at 8:15 p.m.

Anti-hunger Coalition Timmins is having a Community Salad and BBQ this Thursday, Aug. 23 at the Kidd Operations Community Garden on Bannerman Avenue. If you can, bring your own vegetable to contribute to the community salad. Everyone is welcome to attend, and there will be activities for kids and tours of the gardens. There is a social and salad dressing workshop at 4:30 p.m., followed by the free barbecue at 5:30 p.m.

Don’t forget about the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival that is setting up at Participark Aug. 24-26. There is a full weekend of fun planned, starting Friday at 4 p.m.

The Healthy Kids Community Challenge also has another full week of events scheduled, which are free for children up the age of 13 years and their family. Check out the full calendar here:
