Community helps fill food bank fridge (4 photos)

Drive-thru event made it easy to help out

Helping to fill the new industrial fridge and freezer at the Timmins Food Bank was easy today.

The Timmins Chamber of Commerce was set up outside the Spruce Street North building to accept donations for its drive-thru food campaign.

It was set up from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. so people could drop off donations on their way to work and not even have to leave their car to help out.

The initiative built on a donation the chamber gave to the food bank last year.

In December, the chamber's 100 People Who Care campaign supported the food bank with $10,000 to help buy a new industrial fridge and freezer.

Some of the items being suggested to donate include: small bags of baby carrots, small bags of broccoli, oranges, a dozen eggs, as well as any frozen vegetable or frozen fruit.
