NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF TIMMINS

In addition to the recent announcement relating to the reopening of splash pads at Hollinger and White Water Parks, effective immediately the following additional City-owned outdoor recreational amenities are open to the public subject to ongoing physical distancing and group size limitations:

  • Gillies Lake Beach (maintained but not supervised);
  • Public Washrooms located at Hollinger and White Water Parks;
  • Open spaces and parks (excluding playgrounds and play structures); and
  • Sporting fields (e.g., soccer, baseball, etc.), however sport teams can only train or practice with no scrimmages or games being permitted.

It is anticipated that the pool will reopen sometime in late August, 2020.

Mark Jensen, Director of Community & Development Services advises that “the City is taking advantage of the present pool closure to complete important capital improvements to this facility, to prepare a reopening plan to ensure staff and visitor safety, and to allow sufficient time for staff recertification and recruitment.”

Additional facilities and amenities including arenas and playgrounds/play structures will be opened as we move into Stage 3 of Ontario’s reopening plan. Once this direction is provided by the Province, the public will be advised accordingly.
