Citizen reports possible impaired driver

MOOSONEE - On March 24, 2019, at 6:24 p.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver on the James Bay Coastal Winter Road, just north of the Town of Moosonee, Ontario.   

Police located the suspect vehicle travelling southbound towards Moosonee a short time later. The investigation revealed the female driver was impaired by alcohol.   

Priscilla Alisappi, age 38, of Moose Factory, Ontario has been charged with:  

  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration - 80 plus, contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.

The accused was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on May 7, 2019.  

Since Jan. 1, 2019, four impaired drivers have been arrested and charged in Moosonee, often thanks to complaints from the public. The OPP encourages members of the public to report any suspected impaired driver immediately by calling 9-1-1.
