Chip fire burns for three days behind golf course

There were no injuries or damage to any buildings and the fire did not spread into the forest

On Saturday Aug. 4, 2018, at 9:47 a.m., the Timmins Fire Department responded to a wood chip fire at the Erocon waste management site behind the Hollinger Golf Club.

The fire burned for three days. Firefighters attended the fire until Monday, Aug. 6, 2018.

There were no injuries or any damage to any buildings and the fire did not spread into the forest.

The Timmins Fire Department is a composite Fire Department that operates 7 Fire Stations; 5 Volunteer Stations, 1 Composite Station and 1 Airport Station. The Fire Department is equipped with a total of 21 pieces of apparatus, 140 Volunteers Firefighters and 34 Career Firefighters.
