Discounted children’s tickets for the 2018 Stars and Thunder festival are now on sale.

The eight-day festival is being held in Timmins at Hollinger Park from June 24 to July 1.

Canadian rocker Bryan Adams is headlining the Canada Day concert, which will also feature Our Lady Peace, Matthew Good, and Sons of Maxwell.

Other headliners throughout the week are The Beach Boys, Paul Brandt, Gord Bamford, Burton Cummings & Band, Mariana's Trench, Colin James, and Eric Lapointe. Regional acts will also be taking to the stage every day.

Timmins council recently approved selling tickets for kids 10 years and under at a lower rate.

Individual day passes are $25 each and 500 tickets for each individual day will be sold. Eight-day passes are $100 and 2,000 are available. Children’s ticket prices are only available for general admission and they must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket.

“This was done based on requests to make the festival more affordable for families to attend together,” said Mayor Steve Black in a statement.

“The committee heard concerns, reviewed festivals around the province and decided to make the change to make Stars and Thunder more affordable for families. We also look forward to having more food vendors on site, which should also improve the quality of experience at the festival. We will be announcing more details on this aspect soon.”

If you’ve already bought general admission tickets for children, a refund will be issued after buying a children’s ticket in its place.

"For online ticket purchases, people can contact Front Gate Tickets directly at 1-888-512-7469 or visit http://support.frontgatetickets.com and send through an email," reads the release from the city.

"Those who purchased hard copy tickets during the pre-sale at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex or at City Hall will need to purchase a children’s ticket at City Hall, at which time a refund will be processed for the original purchase."

Ticket sales for this festival are slower than the demand in 2017.

As of Jan. 30, a city report reveals that 3,004 tickets have been sold, which accounts for $903,850 in sales. At the same time last year, 12,683 tickets had sold for $2.8 million.

Early bird pricing for tickets is on until April 30. More information on the festival, including adult ticket prices, is available at starsandthunder.com.
