The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into a theft occurrence at a local homeless shelter in Porcupine.

The theft was discovered in progress during the early morning hours of Friday, July 22, by a staff member at the shelter.

During the course of the theft, the suspect is alleged to have caused damage to the facilities.

During the course of the investigation, a quantity of Controlled Substance was located and seized as evidence as well.

The Timmins Police have charged William Macdonald, 32, of no fixed address with:

  • One count of Theft - Under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • One count of Mischief contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

One count of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Macdonald was arrested at the scene and was held for a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
