Timmins, On - The City of Timmins will be host to the Canadian Snowcross Racing Association (CSRA) Pro Challenge, a Triple Crown event taking place March 1 & 2.

Timmins, On  - The City of Timmins will be host to the Canadian Snowcross Racing Association (CSRA) Pro Challenge, a Triple Crown event taking place March 1 & 2. Approximately 200 racing teams will converge on the city to compete for points and cash prizes. The City of Timmins snow dump, located at the end of Spruce St South, will be transformed into a race venue by snowcross professionals. The footprint will include a sophisticated snowcross race course designed to challenge competitors and entertain the thousands of spectators looking for spectacular race action. The race course will include banks, hills, jumps, left and right turns and straights. Each day will feature 26 race classes for a total of 52 races.

The Timmins Rotary Club in partnership with the Timmins Snowmobile Club will operate the food & beverage tent allowing both organizations the benefit of earning much needed funds to support ongoing programs. Furthermore, a number of national, regional, and local exhibitors will be on hand to promote their brand and service.

Timmins resident and Canadian National Champion Angela Vacchino will be working with CSRA to help co-ordinate and promote the event.

According to Guy Lamarche, Manager Tourism Events & Communications, “The snowcross event is an important addition to the many events currently taking place in our community. The fact that 200 race teams are converging on the city for what amounts to 3 or 4 nights is significant. Add to this the economic impact that the estimated 3,000 spectators will have on our economy, and you have an event that will generate a minimum of $1million dollars in incremental spending on lodging, food, entertainment, fuel, souvenirs, snowmobile parts and service. Snowcross has all of the ingredients of becoming a winter signature event for the City of Timmins.”

“The addition of Timmins to an already busy circuit is a natural given the long and predictable winters that Timmins is known for. Timmins is a snowmobile friendly destination so it was only fitting that we would stage a snowmobile event there. We are happy to include Timmins alongside our other host cities of Kitchener, Sault Ste Marie, Barrie, Sudbury, Lindsay, Rouyn Noranda, Louiseville, Quebec City, Valcourt, and Traverse City Michigan. This event will add significantly to the economy of Timmins. We are happy to be here and anxious to get the races underway” added Ken Avann, CSRA.

The race headquarters will be the Timmins Inn & Suites: 1-800-461-3795. For a complete schedule of all race events Google Snowcross Timmins.
