On Sunday evening, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) issued a press release stating that, in the interest of trying to come to an agreement in ongoing contract negotiations, the job action intended to start on Monday morning is being pushed back 24 hours.

The press release was issued less than hour before midnight, when the work action was slated to begin in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

“We’ve amended our notice in a last-ditch effort to reach a negotiated agreement before we are forced to start working to rule,” said CUPW National President Mike Palecek in the press release.

CUPW stated the government appointed mediator will continue being a part of the negotiations.
