The Timmins Police Service is issuing a traffic advisory in regards to the traffic arteries in and around Hollinger Park during the 2018 Stars and Thunder festival.

In collaboration with festival organizers, and in an effort to enhance public safety, which includes all pedestrian and vehicular traffic, the general public is reminded that Brunette Road will be converted to a one-way thoroughfare from 8 a.m. on Friday, June 22 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.

This effectively means that traffic will be restricted to southbound vehicular traffic ONLY from Algonquin Boulevard to Second Avenue for the time period identified. This measure will effectively reduce congestion and facilitate pedestrian crossing and feature controlled drop-off and pick-up zones for persons attending the festivities.

All business entrances will remain accessible and signs will be posted indicating no left turns when vehicles are exiting the affected properties on the west side of Brunette Road. Additionally, Water Tower Road will also remain accessible only to those with expressed permission to use this roadway. The public’s cooperation is anticipated and appreciated.

Timmins Police officers will be on hand to direct traffic in high density areas to facilitate the effective flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Other pertinent public safety information can be retrieved on the festival’s official website at www.starsandthunder.com which features a wide variety of information.
