Blood donor clinics honouring Timmins girl

Blood donor clinics in Timmins this week are being held in honour of Sophia.

According to the Canadian Blood Services, the 10-year old Timmins girl was diagnosed with leukemia this summer and is undergoing treatment at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

To treat a person with leukemia, it can take eight donors a week.

The blood donor clinics are today (Dec. 11) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 11:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Wednesday, Dec. 13 from noon to 3 p.m. The clinics are at the Paroisse St. Dominique Hall, 365 Norman S., Timmins.
