LCBO workers are raising awareness about the potential impact of privatizing alcohol sales.

Local OPSEU members are holding a free barbecue today from 3 - 6 p.m. at the Timmins LCBO, located at 100 Waterloo Rd. in Hollinger court.

"We all lose when the government allows grocery stores, convenience stores, and 'LCBO Convenience Outlets' to sell alcohol," said OPSEU president Warren (Smokey) Thomas.

"The private owners of these stores skim off profits that should go to our schools, hospitals, and highways."

There will be hamburgers, hotdogs and refreshments while supplies last. They'll also be handing out pamphlets with information about keeping the LCBO public.
