Auger running for mayor

There’s another new name on the list of people vying to be Timmins’ next mayor.

Mickey Auger, who recently ran for the Liberals in the provincial election, has registered to run for the head seat at the council table.

Current Mayor Steve Black filed his papers for re-election the day nominations opened, and newcomer Daniel Fortier is also running for mayor.

Other new names have been added to the ballot as well.

Walter Wawrzaszek is seeking re-election in Ward 2, and Jessica Trudel has added her name to the list of people wanting the Ward 4 councillor’s seat.

For school board trustees, Ron MacInnis has registered for the English Catholic board, David Bernotas is running for the French public board, and Denis Belanger is running for the French Catholic board.

The nomination period for the municipal election is open until July 27 at 2 p.m. Election day is Oct. 22.

Ward 4 - John Curley, Pat Bamford

Ward 5 - Alex Szczebonski, Cory Robin, Jason Sereda, John Ivanovs, Jean (John) Roy

English public school board trustee - Bob Brush

English Catholic school board trustee - Colleen Landers

French public school board trustee - Liliane Francis, Nicole Arcand

French Catholic school board trustee - Langis Dion
