ATM damaged. Sudbury man charged

The Timmins Police responded to an incident at a local tavern yesterday evening (19 July) in the downtown core of Timmins.

Upon arrival at the scene, a Timmins Police officer was made aware that a man allegedly struck an ATM in the bar with his hand causing damage to the unit and the wall adjacent to where it is installed.

The responding Timmins Police Service officer obtained a detailed description of the event and the suspect.

While completing patrols of the immediate area, the suspect was located and arrested without incident.

Marcel Laforest, 39, of Sudbury has been charged with mischief under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused has been released from police custody on the strength of a Promise To Appear in Provincial Court in Timmins On Aug. 7 to answer to the charge laid against him.
