Assault victim taken to Sudbury hospital. Timmins woman charged

Officers with the Timmins Police Service responded to a person in medical distress on Sunday afternoon. The person had allegedly been assaulted in an apartment located in the south end of the city earlier in the day.

The female victim of the assault was transported to Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. A thorough investigation was completed by the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division and a suspect was identified and located a short while later.

Katie Goudreau, 28, of Timmins was arrested yesterday evening and has been charged with:

  • Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Aggravated assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins. The victim of the assault remains in a Sudbury area hospital at this time receiving treatment for injuries suffered during the assault.
