Area home sales surged back up in May

This comes after a record-low month of April

The Timmins, Cochrane and Timiskaming District Association of Realtors reports that May home sales have surged back to almost normal levels after a record-low month of April.

April's 43 residential sales marked the lowest level of sales for the month going back over three decades.

In May, there were 167 new residential listings, a large decline of 46 per cent over a year to year basis and a 30-year low for the month.

In May 2020:

  • 100 was the number of total property sold
  • $160,412 was the average price of homes sold
  • 167 new residential units were posted

To compare, in May 2019:

  • 133 was the number of total property sold
  • $177,255.26 was the average price of homes sold
  • 89 new residential listings were posted

In April 2020:

  • 54 was the number of total property sold
  • $179,133 was the average price of homes sold
  • 82 new residential units were posted
