The Coldest Night of the Year is being held Feb. 24 and will see teams walk a 2, 5 or 10-kilometre route, followed by a light meal.

This is the first year that its being held in Timmins, with the money raised will support ACT’s programs to increase food security in the area.

So far, the event has raise almost $25,000, which is about 80 per cent of its $30,000 fundraising goal.

The walk route is helping raise awareness about the work of different organizations in the community as well.

It starts at the Lord’s Kitchen, and will bring people by Project Love, the Porcupine Health Unit, First Baptist Church, Yo Mobile, and more.

Registrations for the event can be done online here.
