New opportunities are now available for youth who are interested in or who have been considering entrepreneurship!

The Business Enterprise Centre is currently offering a new program called Starter Company, which provides young entrepreneurs with resources and support to help them start, expand, or launch their business.

This free program is targeted to individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 who are not attending school full time.

Starter Company offers training workshops, one-on-one business consultations, mentorship from local business leaders, and the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 towards their business.

Starter Company is funded by the provincial government as part of the ‘Ready. Set. Work.’ campaign and the Youth Jobs Strategy.

The Youth Jobs Strategy is part of the government's economic plan that is creating jobs for today and tomorrow.

The comprehensive plan and its six priorities focus on Ontario's greatest strengths - its people and strategic partnerships.

This is the second time the Starter Company program has been offered in Timmins.

Seven young entrepreneurs participated in the program this summer to develop their business ideas.

Two of the business ideas were submitted for and received $5,000 each of funding towards their start-up costs.

The Starter Company program represents an excellent opportunity to support local youth who are seeking to become self-employed or expand their business, and to strengthen the regional economy.

“There are a lot of passionate, energetic young entrepreneurs in our area, but they don’t necessarily know how to get started. The Starter Company program helps them learn how to start a business, and the entire region benefits from their ideas and enthusiasm,” said Fred Gibbons, Chairman of the Timmins Economic Development Corporation.

The next Starter Company intake, commencing October 8th, will be offered in Timmins. Anyone interested in learning more or applying for this opportunity can contact:
