Altercation leads to assault charge for Kirkland Lake man

On April 20, 2019, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of an assault on Prospect Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. 

Further investigation revealed that an altercation had taken place and that the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. As a result a local man was arrested and charged.  

Martyn Rosko, age 33, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with the following:  

  • Assault causing bodily harm, contrary to section 267(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC, and
  • Fail to comply with probation order (three counts), contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Temiskaming Shores, on April 24, 2019.
