7 new COVID-19 cases reported Sunday

Seven new COVID-19 cases being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today.

Three cases are in the James Bay area, two are in Timmins and two are in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls. 

The exposure of six cases is under investigation and one person is the contact of a case.

To date, there have been 1,964 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. As of Friday, 1,630 people had recovered and 27 people have died. While the health unit reports new cases on the weekend, the number of recoveries is not updated.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
