4 new COVID-19 cases, no recoveries reported Tuesday

Four new COVID-19 cases and no recoveries are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (Oct. 19).

One person is in Timmins, two people are in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, and one person is in the Hearst and Hornepayne area. 

To date, there have been 2,220 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 2,182 are recovered and 31 people have died. There are seven known active cases — one in Timmins, two in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, two in the area of Kapuskasing, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, and one in Hearst and Hornepayne.

There are 54,995 people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the region. There have been 104,718 doses administered. Both of these numbers are the same since Friday's report.

The COVID-19 vaccine passport is in effect. It requires proof of vaccination for people 12 years and older in certain high-risk public spaces.

The digital proof-of-vaccination certificate featuring a QR code that people can use starting Oct. 22 is available to download here.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
