3 new COVID-19 cases, 0 recoveries reported Thursday

Three new COVID-19 cases and no recoveries are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (Sept. 16).

Two of the people are in Timmins and one person is in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls.

To date, there have been 2,193 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 2,155 are recovered and 31 people have died. There are seven known active cases — 4 in Timmins, 2 in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, and 1 in the James Bay area.

So far, 53,001 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, which is an increase of 77 from yesterday's report. There have been 99,827 doses of the vaccine administered. 

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
