2 additional COVID cases reported in Porcupine Health Unit region

Two additional COVID-19 cases are being reported tonight, bringing the total number of cases reported in the Porcupine Health Unit region today to four.

One of the new cases is in the Hearst, Hornepayne area, and one is in the James and Hudson Bay region. Both people are the contact of a confirmed case and in self-isolation, according to the health unit.

The cases announced earlier today are both in Timmins.

To date, there have been 646 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 502 are recovered and 26 people gave died. There are 118 known active cases. 

So far, 29,766 have been vaccinated, which is an increase of 1,082 from Friday's report. There have been 31,064 doses of the vaccine administered.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
