Tourism and travel businesses hard hit by the pandemic can now apply for a provincial grant to help with recovery efforts.

Through the Ontario Tourism and Travel Small Business Support Grant, launched on May 13, eligible businesses can apply for a one-time payment of $10,000 to $20,000.

It's open to small tourism and travel businesses with fewer than 100 employees that did not receive the Ontario Small Business Support Grant. Examples include travel agents, hotels, motels, resorts, and bed and breakfasts.

To qualify, applicants have to demonstrate their business has experienced a decline in revenue of 20 per cent of more between 2019 and 2020.

Recipients can use the grant in whatever way makes the most sense for their business.

Details on the fund and how to apply are available here. Applicants can make submissions until Friday, June 25.

The funding comes from the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries.
