Timmins’ annual mining show will return to an in-person format in 2022.

Glenn Dredhart, president of the organizing firm Canadian Trade-Ex, confirmed in a social media post that the Canadian Mining Expo will take place June 7-9 at the McIntyre Arena.

Colloquially called 'The Big Event,’ the annual expo has become one of Northern Ontario's biggest mining tradeshows, where mining companies and suppliers gather to showcase their businesses and products.

In addition to hundreds of tradeshow booths, the show features panel discussions on key industry topics, a job fair, and a gala dinner with presentations from Canada's top mining executives.

Dredhart cancelled the event in 2020 following the onset of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

This year, the company partnered with the City of Timmins and the Timmins Economic Development Corp. to host an online version of the event, which focused on the Abitibi Greenstone Belt and its wealth of minerals used in the production of battery-electric vehicles.

Dredhart said the 2022 show will include more than 400 booths, and 90 per cent of the spaces are already booked.
