INEOS Calabrian has given a boost to Iroquois Falls Acess Transit.

The Timmins company has donated $5,000 to the charity that provides transportation to vulnerable members of the community.

According to a news release, the money will help Access Transit cover operating expenses such as fuel, bus drivers' salaries, and maintenance costs to keep the vehicle running.

“COVID-19 has meant that a large number of our community members require our assistance to meet their most basic needs. We’ve expanded our services so that we can deliver essentials, like groceries, to the elderly, people with disabilities, and low-income families. We’re thrilled to have this funding as it will help us ensure we can cover our operating costs and continue to help the most vulnerable members of our community," said Jackie Rivest, Access Transit president, in the news release.

For INEOS, the cash is from its international INEOS Community Fund set up to support charities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Iroquois Falls Access Transport charity provides a lifeline support service for the local community. The two part-time bus drivers, and sole full-time relief driver provide reliable transportation from Monday-Friday between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., and are only supported by a volunteer driver who helps out on weekends and evenings. The small team functions to help the entire community and we’re incredibly pleased to be able to help them continue their vital work in these challenging times," said Kyle Irvine, INEOS Calabrian community giving representative.
