Two COVID-19 cases confirmed in Moosonee: health authority

Six new cases have been reported in the Porcupine Health Unit region today

Two COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Moosonee, according to the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA).

This brings the total number of cases reported in the Porcupine Health Unit today to six.

Both people in Moosonee are in isolation, reads a WAHA news release.

Earlier today, the health unit reported four new cases — two in the area of Cochrane, Matheson and Iroquois Falls, and two in the Hearst, Hornepayne area.

To date, there have been 316 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region since the start of the pandemic. Of those, 272 are recovered and 25 people have died.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne.
